The best bookseller in Australia’s first 10 years

The best-selling book in Australia in the first 10 months of 2017 was Allan Houser’s ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.

The best-seller list was compiled by the Australian Book Awards, and the first list is up here.

Fifty is the new Fifty Shades of Gray and has been released on August 24, 2017.

It’s a new release with no reviews, so here are the bestsellers in alphabetical order.


Fifty Shades Of Grey by Allan H. Housers.

Housers has a history of making provocative books.

In 2014 he published his controversial book, ‘Cancer Wars: How the World Got Fat, Fat, &c.’

The book was banned for selling books with sex, violence, and racial stereotypes.

This year, Houssers was back at it with ‘Fancy Flats: How to Build Your Dream House, or a B-Movie of Your Life’, and this time he was more ambitious.

He wanted to make a new kind of book with more sex, more violence, more sexual content.

The book has sold more than 1.4 million copies, making it the third best-seller in Australia.


Fifty Shades Of Gray by James Patterson.

A man who knows his book.

When it comes to publishing books, James Patterson is as famous as he is prolific.

His books have sold over 300 million copies worldwide.

One of his latest books, ‘The Girl Who Loved Me’, is out in the US, followed by ‘The Man Who Loves Me’.

In Australia, he is the only author in the top 100 who has not published a book.

He is currently in the Top 10 of Best-seller lists in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.


The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by J.K. Rowling.


K Rowling is the most successful British author in history.

She has written over 50 books and more than 30 feature films.

Her books have been translated into almost 30 languages and are now the biggest selling books in the world.

“I’ve never been more proud of the way I write and the way my books have translated,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2016.


Fifty years on from ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’, Harry Potter fans are still mourning the death of Professor McGonagall.

McGonagall, the iconic Hogwarts Professor, was a brilliant teacher who taught the school students magical creatures and magic spells, but was murdered by a dementor.

More than 30 years after her death, her story is still haunting.

Professor McGonagh was killed by a deadly dementor in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’.

A memorial service is being held for Professor McGough, who died on July 11, 2017, in her hometown of Oxford.


The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 – Blu-ray/DVD.

‘Mockingjay’ Blu-Ray/DVD set features the first ever live-action adaptation of the blockbuster film trilogy, set to open in cinemas worldwide on August 21, 2017 – with a new trailer coming out this month.

Fans are being asked to help the movie with a petition asking Warner Bros. to give the series a wider release.


The Girl Who Played with Fire by Kate Atkinson.

Kate Atkinson’s bestselling book ‘The Girls Who Were Too Young’ has sold over 100 million copies in Australia and the UK.

Although Atkinson is a lifelong reader of books, she wrote the book in the late 80s.

An early version of the book was published in the 1980s by the Melbourne-based publisher Macmillan, but she has since gone on to become a bestselling author.


The Book of the Week: ‘Cats & Dogs’ by Jane Austen.

Jane Austen’s best-known work is ‘A Tale of Two Cities’.

This is a collection of short stories and essays.

‘Lucky Number’ by Neil Gaiman.

Neil Gaiman is a British author known for his ‘American Gods’, ‘Dune’, and ‘Sandman’.

He also wrote the novel ‘Norse Mythology’ which was adapted into a film in 2017.


‘The Last Unicorn’ by George R.R. Martin.

Martin is the author of the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ series of fantasy novels.

While the first book in that series, ‘Rising Sun’ was published earlier this year, the second book in ‘Song Of Ice and Light’ was released in 2016 and the third book is currently out in May 2017.
